What is it about a line that makes us lose all sense in time, space, and reality? All intelligence, rhyme, and reason go out of the window. We can hear the same line 50-11 times... then fall for it 50-12. It's a devastating cycle that seems to travel through generations. I'm honest enough to admit that I have fallen for my fair share. Sometimes from the same person. No matter how smart we are, how together we think we have it, or how ahead of the game we think we may be.... We all for them at some point. They are usually the same.... Like there is a handbook or something.
I didn't hear my phone... Trust me you picked it up at some point
I didn't see you called... so you just weren't going to contact me
My battery died... It wasn't dead all day/night
I was sleep... How long cause I need those sleeping pills
She's just a friend..... PUHLEEEASE
I love you.... Not always a line. Don't take me for bitter but....you know
It won't happen again... it will.. it probably still is... whatever the IT is
I was just upset... That is usually when the truth comes out
As soon as I get on my feet... STOP/PAUSE.... this one is a whole 'nother post in itself
No one will love you like I do... I sincerely hope not
We all have a sister, aunt, niece, cousin, or friend that causes us to scratch our heads. They go through the worst situations with the worst person. Then scream, holler, cry, and sing that it's over.... As soon as you feel they are healing... THEY hit YOU with the line... "Don't be mad but we are back together". No, Karen I'm not going to be mad. However, when Mr. "My Phone Died" Marcus starts laying it on thick again, remember. That's all. Remember.
The line is just to get them in the door. The reality is, after the line, comes the person they really are. Be smarter! People do change, but discernment is key! If you think that it can't happen to you, or never have fallen for one then chiiiile.... have a blast in Denial.
We are smarter than the line! Whatever the line is. I am sure that I didn't hit on all of them. For whatever reason, whether it's in pursuit of happiness or attention, we ignore the blaring signs. A line is a line is a line.
Love ya,
Reine
